Wild & woolly on Fawlty Towers

Point 5 and Observatory Buttress

For the next few days I'm working with Chris to finalise his preparation for his MIC assessment. After yesterdays fun ice and with a good forecast and freeze we planned to head high on the Ben for one of the big classic ice lines. However after battling up to the CIC hut against high winds and with a face full of spindrift we decided discretion was better than valor and headed up under the Douglas Boulder looking for some shelter. Certainly one of the biggest changes in the Met Office, MWIS and SAIS forecasts I've experienced. In the end we climbed Fawlty Towers (III) before descending into Observatory Gully and being blown back to the car.
